Indian National Army Secret Service: Saga of secret Patriots or Enemy Agents

Indian National Army Secret Service:

Saga of secret Patriots or Enemy Agents
by

Moti Lal Bhargava, Americk singh Gill

in English and Bengali

During World War II (WWII) various intelligence organisations had been set up specifically to conduct covert operations which focused on sabotage, subversion and propaganda activities. A large number of academic studies on WWII covert operations focused on allied covert operations and not many had evaluated the strategic effectiveness of Japanese covert operations. One such Japanese unit was the Fujiwara Kikan or F. Kikanwhich was formed to support the Japanese invasion of Malaya and Singapore.

In 1939, Fujiwara was transferred to the military intelligence unit within the Imperial Japanese Army General Staff, tasked with planning operations in south and Southeast Asia. He traveled to Bangkok in 1941, and joined the Japanese Southern Expeditionary Army Group as Chief of Staff the same year. In 1941 Fujiwara established the F Kikan, a Japanese special operations unit, which was tasked with developing and assisting independence movements in British India, Malaya andNetherlands East Indies. In 1943, Fujiwara and his unit were transferred to the IJA 15th Army. F-Kikan greatly assisted in the establishment of the Indian National Army.

Fujiwara, Iwaichi (1983). F. Kikan: Japanese Army Intelligence Operations in Southeast Asia During World War 11. Fujiwara, Iwaichi (1983). F. Kikan: Japanese Army Intelligence Operations in Southeast Asia During World War 11.

This edition on 2020 plays significant role in informing our present generation about the role of INA and it's various units which operated under very tough conditions against British Raj in 1940's. As a publisher I have felt that very facts have been written in our text books and youth of India is not aware of that we once had full army named AZAD HIND FAUJ. Netaji's contribution is diluted in our history books.

Movies and social media has aroused new queries among fresh readers who are searching for facts and figures and here we present them small but important information about INA's Secret Service Units which were fully functional with support from Japanese counterparts. Its' a matter of chance that Late Shri Moti Lal Bhargava a historian had met my father Late Shri S K Bhatia and handed over some important manuscripts like INA Secret Service; INA Tokyo Cadets; Role of Press In The Freedom Movement of India etc which were published in 1980's and 1990's and are now source material for many researchers across the globe.

We have just added brief biographies in the last without disturbing the main text of this book so that present reader is able to connect with INA and its functionaries.

The role of our author Shri M L Bhargava is quite noteworthy to do research in the era when there was no GOOGLE or internet.

Present readers should understand that there were 1000's of unsung heroes who died for the sake of India's Independence working as silent soldiers of INA in various forms and there were many cheaters too who were just double agents or worked just for money.

LIFE OF Dr.Shyama Prasad Mookerjee 1937-1946 - Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Life Sketch (Dr. Anil Chandra Banerjee)

A PHASE IN THE LIFE OF

Dr.Shyama Prasad Mookerjee

1937-1946 - "Shyama Prasad Mukherjee" Life Sketch

(Dr. Anil Chandra Banerjee)
Dr Prabir Mukhopadhyay has translated this book in Bengali from English

Dr. Syamaprasad Mookerjee wrote two diaries in English and one in Bengali. Due to intensive public engagements, multifaceted activities and declining health during the prime of his life, he could not regularly write everything down in his diary. Nevertheless the value of these writings in the light they shed on the contemporary political situation and the expression of his personality is immense. These two English diaries are based on some official documents and ancillary material. In this book, Dr.Anil Chandra Banerjee tries to throw light on the activities of Dr. Syamaprasad Mookerjee as a visionary educationist and an uncompromising leader of the country’s freedom struggle.

The book places Syamaprasad at the centre of this broad period background, 1937-1946, incorporating his early life, Sir Asutosh Mookerjee’s role as the chief architect of education system in India and Asutosh’s influence on his son. The period 1937-1946 was not only a very formative period of Syamaprasad’s political life, but also one of the most consequential chapters in Indian History. Syamaprasad emerged as one of the most outstanding figures in this chapter of Indian politics. The book also cast light on an important chapter in the history of Bengal. The book reflects important aspects of Syamaprasad’s political life, such as his experience as Finance Minister of Bengal in the Progressive Alliance Cabinet, his resignation due to political differences with the Governor of Bengal, the World War, Civil Uprising, Bengal famines and his role in #communal riots. The book also presents to a certain extent Syamaprasad’s views on nationalism and Indian nationalism, formulated from his speeches and diaries.

Dr Prabir Mukhopadhyay has translated this book in Bengali for the Bengali readers, in which the “Preface” has been written by Justice Chittotosh Mukhopadhyay, Chairman, Asutosh Mookerjee Memorial Institute

Justice Chittatosh Mookerjee (Born 1 January 1929) was the #Chief #Justice of the Calcutta and Bombay #High Court, India. He is the grandson of Bengali scholar and educator Ashutosh Mukherjee and the nephew of Shyama Prasad Mookerjee.
FAQ

After falling out with Nehru, protesting against the Liaquat–Nehru Pact, Mukherjee resigned from Nehru's cabinet. With the help of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, he founded the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the predecessor to the Bharatiya Janata Party, in 1951.

What were the issues Syama Prasad Mookerjee had with the pact?

Syama Prasad Mookerjee had initially been an advocate for a united India.

However, as Partition became increasingly inevitable, he shifted his focus towards advocating for a divided Bengal, with West Bengal specifically meant for Hindu Bengalis. When the Delhi Pact was signed, which promised minority rights and the establishment of minority commissions in both India and Pakistan, Mookerjee was extremely angry. He felt that the Pact would essentially leave Hindus in East Bengal at the mercy of the Pakistani state.Instead, he argued for a systematic exchange of population and property at the governmental level between East Bengal and the states of Tripura, Assam, West Bengal and Bihar. He also favoured a plan granting the Hindu minority in East Bengal an opportunity to settle in India while pushing the Muslim minorities in India to East Bengal.

The Akhil Bharatiya Jana Sangh (abbreviated as BJS or JS, short name: Jan Sangh) was a Hindutva political party active in India. It was established on 21 October 1951 in Delhi by three founding members: Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Balraj Madhok and Deendayal Upadhyaya.

He was an Indian politician, barrister, and academician who served as the Minister for Industry and Supply in Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru's cabinet. He started "Bang Wani", a Bengali journal, in 1922 and The Nationalist in 1940's.

Maj Gen Kiani won the prestigious Sword of Honour & Gold Medal for the most Outstanding Cadet in 1935 from Indian Military Academy, Dehradun. Gen Kiani had a bright military career ahead of him. He was an officer in 1st Battalion 14th Punjab Regiment under the Britishers. But he resigned his commission to join the I.N.A under Netaji. Preface

In a world full of pharmaceuticals, nature may sometimes help us heal from diseases, and this is where alternative medicine steps in. Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) has been defined as a group of diverse medical and healthcare systems, practices and products that are presently not considered to be a part of conventional medicine.
There is no evidence that indicates that alternative medicine in India prevents or cures any diseases, although it does aid in recovery and pain relief. Research highlighted that majority of people with chronic diseases use some form of complementary therapy at some point throughout their medical condition. India is the birth place of one of the oldest systems of medicines, Ayurveda, which had its origin around 2000 years back. Ayurveda, Yoga, Siddha and Unani and Homeopathy are recognized in India as the Indian systems of medicines.
Although CAM has been practiced in India for thousands of years, there is limited literature available on the extent of use, attitude and perception of patients utilizing CAM services and none among doctors in India. Since practitioners of modern medicines may have to encounter patients using CAM, it would be useful to know their attitude and perception towards CAM.
The patients preferred to use CAM as they perceived it to be better, economical, safer and easily available. Majority of the patients had not been asked by their doctors about any alternative therapies during the course of history taking in the OPD. This could be because of lack of awareness on the doctor’s part about CAM. Another reason could be the acute shortage of time for adequate history taking. The hospital gets thousands of patients daily in the OPD and doctors are under tremendous pressure to see and manage them.
Art therapy (visual art therapy, music therapy, drama therapy, dance/movement therapy, and expressive writing therapy), adventure therapy, child centered play therapy, sand therapy, dance therapy, and integrative therapies are considered as alternative therapies
AT are powerful ways to communicate with clients. Some clients may have difficulty in expressing their feelings and thoughts verbally. These clients may think that thoughts and feelings are too painful to put into words.
Much of this book considers the formidable challenges to advancing human health through the further dispersion of effective and economical medical practices. The chapters considers both proven and unproven but popular CAM and TM approaches and attempts to portray their current and potential place in the overall practice of medicine.
The article on ‘Ayurveda and Manovigyana’ resembles the  significance of an ancient cultures where mind exerts powerful influences on bodily functions and vice versa. Attempts to reassert proper harmony between these bodily systems (Tridoshas and Trigunas) led to the development of mind-body medicine, an array of approaches that incorporate spiritual, meditative, and relaxation techniques.
The article on ‘Neurocognitive approach’ indicates how the brain influences morality and structures that connect to other areas that simultaneously control a number of Behavioral processes.
The chapter on ‘Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT)’ will help the clinicians to identify the merits of this approach and think about the integration of AAT as a form of non-pharmacological intervention for ADHD.
The article on ‘Personalized guided imagery’ is based on neuroscientific concept of thoughts creation through metacognition and how intentional changes in thoughts can change the way of living to reprogram the subconscious mind (the seed of our beings).
Set against the backdrop of post pandemic “new” normal the volume contains a rich collection of empirical essays which I am sure willcontribute towards asensitive and nuanced understanding of the phenomenon of alternative medicine from diverse perspectives from an inter-disciplinary approach. The articles reflect a range of rich discussions on value of mind body balance, unconditional self-acceptance and compassion, disciplined spiritual practices, soul-consciousness, emotional intelligence, morality, inner resilience and mindfulness to integrate CAM in universal health care programmes to improve their suitability from a mental health standpoint. The book also has dedicated chapters that elaborate on effective Ayurveda-inspired techniques and smart ICT enablement mechanisms to cope with mind-body disorders in the modern world.
Developing holistic and insightful understanding the preventing illness and promoting wellness is a work in progress and a collective endeavor. The book opensbroader avenues for engagement with our personal journeys of acceptance and adaptations to healing process both within and without and, the pieces therein rest on the hope for seizure of these opportunities at its best to help in optimization of holistic healthcare in the country.
